The last week has been pretty uneventful in our house. We've been quarantined indoors, passing a cold/flu through the house. When one of us catches a bug, I don't even bother trying to keep it from spreading - I figure, why prolong the inevitable?
Anyway, Brian brought home a nasty flu bug from work and quickly passed it along. We're almost through with it, with the exception of a few lingering coughs.

The timing was pretty convenient actually. My parents, Jenn & Matt and their girls went to Florida last week - we missed them, but wouldn't have seen them even if they were home. Instead, we spent our week admiring our Disney DVD collection and doing a lot of this:

I guess it's....

Hat day.

Or roll your eyes at your Mama day.

Or scowl at the camera day.

Or Gangsta-in-training day.

I think we'll stick with plain 'ol hat day.

Quick table manner update

If you've read this post, you'd know that some of our table manners were are in need of improvement.

I'm very proud to announce that tonight, upon finishing his dinner, little Cameron hopped down from the table and  very clearly said grunted what something to the tune of  "Thank-you" and proceeded to pick up his plate, bring it to the kitchen and put it on the counter. The best part was that neither of the other kids had finished yet, so he wasn't just following their lead!

I'm fully aware that he was not overcome with a miraculous sense of appreciation for the work involved in preparing and cleaning up after a nutritious meal, and that he was simply copying the after-dinner routine of the other kids, but 17 months, this must be some kind of record!

Saturday can only mean one thing...

My house smells yummy!

Yes, I admit. My kids are weird. Or rather, they develop weird habits.

Austin sucks on his fingers when he`s tired (not that strange), and bites the back of his hand when he`s excited or frustrated.

Bryanna still eats bits of food off the floor (Think M&Ms found in the couch cushions -gross!) and makes a slurping sound when she likes something.

Cameron has recently taken to sticking onion peels in his ears. I guess he likes the crinkling sound...yuck. Not to mention that he takes his naps flat on his back in the middle of the floor, wherever he falls.

Clearly, they take after their Daddy.

Read Austin Read

That's right. I'm so proud of my oldest baby learning to read that I had to brag about it once again.

After a lengthy Christmas break, school is officially back in session.

Austin got some great readers  for Christmas, that he is able to read most of on the first try.

Today I let him do most of his "schoolwork" online at . I swear I should get paid for my endorsements for this site, but it really is great for learning to read. He really liked playing the games - he had to match the letters to spell a word. The ones he did today were really easy for him, but they do get more advanced, so we'll definitely do this again.

I also finally got around to recording him reading* (on my brand-spanking-new digital video camera) so I could share with all of you!

[Insert applause here]

*Disclaimer: He had actually read this in book form back before Christmas, so he didn't need to sound out as much as usual.
